DIY Varex exahust for motorbike
This video displays how I was able to create a DIY version of a varex muffler. This mod was promarely made with safety in mind to allow motorists to hear a motorcycle whilst in urban or city traffic whilst also offering quiet freeway travel.
These exahusts are avaliable oversead but they cost a pretty penny.

    Did you bother to look at the size of the box needed for the sub? There isn't enough space and you need to port it... A shallow 10 inch with the top of the box flush with the bottom of the trunk floor so it takes the space of wood that covers the spare is better because it would allow proper air and give maximum depth. The other option is to use a sub that is built for a box that isn't ported. Your concept is good, but next time do your research on the subwoofer requirements before building a box.

      @@ShivaSharma-zs6gt thanks for the comment, the first interation of this box was ported and it sounded like crap, it sounded hollow and weak. The box needs to be sealed due to its size. Unexpectedly I've received a lot of criticism on this project from friends, family, fans and I've come to the belief that everyone seems to think they are experts on this subject when it really comes down to what sounds best for you. Nevertheless, I decided to actually build one, I found out what works and what didn't. In my opinion, it sounds amazing, fits perfectly and is exactly what I wanted. Hope this helps.

    Hey great video . May I ask what did you find wrong about the machine earlier in the video you said your machine not welding properly and when you found out why it isn't you show some connections to be I presumed wrong. Can I ask if you can further explained what was that you found wrong. Thank you

    • @MaximumDIY
      @MaximumDIY 10 месяцев назад

      Oh yeah, the original problem was caused by a loose connection on the negative terminal inside the welder. I couldn't see this until I disassembled the unit. Once tightened it's much better. The 4m long leads and gun are a bonus. In my experience, welding with flux core as compared to gas welding, gas welding is much cleaner, easier and I'd never go back to non-gas welding having tried them both. Hope that helps.

  • @RelentlessHomesteading

    Nicely done. Although I'm not wild about the single circular support, in terms of rigidity. I liked how you used pillow blocks on holding the shaft bearings. Especially liked that you "GET IT" in regard to leaving out a quill ! For a DIY machine having that sleeve and associated gearing for a handle for raising and lowering, really adds slop to the system and that slop is exactly why you can't just chuck mill bits into a drill press (aside from the bearing in a drill press not be configured for significant side loads). A well built motorized Z stage, especially with linear feedback and handwheel, can allow precise to the 'thou' accuracy in the vertical direction. And then don't need the UBER precision work needed in doing a quill like in the old commercial vertical mills. One can use the electronics to do what are normally the quill operations. Also liked that you motorized at least the X stage too (appears a windshield wiper motor?). Simple but would sure be a help as you can't take very deep cuts with such a setup. But still seems like a very capable piece of 'kit', as they say in the UK. Good on you !!

      Thanks for the comment, I'm really glad you're enjoying my videos. My welder was originally using gasles flux core wire and it did work okayish but the welds were always dirty and the wire was expensive. I decided to convert to gas and I'd never go back, as an added bonus the wire is much cheaper and as expected the welds are clean and strong. You could do the same conversion and use the flux core wire if you wanted and leave out the gas solenoid because you wouldn't need it. The 4 meter leads are well worth the upgrade in my opinion, plus it allows you to detach both leads if you need to. The mig gun's trigger is also much lighter and makes it much easier to work with.

I figured I'd build the mill to use M3 taper tooling incase the build turned out to be a failure I could purchase a small sized mill and still use the same tooling.

    I know people upgrade their Seig Mills spindle motors with treadmill motors but never saw someone throw that motor in their Z axis. It’s overkill for that axis. I would say throw it on your spindle but you have an ever more overkill motor on that as well lol. That motors size looks like the motors I see on monster mills that weigh a ton in machinists garages at home.

    • @MaximumDIY
      @MaximumDIY 2 года назад

      Hi Jaspergers - thanks for the comment, the answer is no. It doesn't muffle the sound, I'm using a low pass filter on my head deck so the sub only has to product low bass notes but it's crisp base and I've already modded my wife's car with the same excellent results. I did have to use a towel to wrap up the spare tire tools as they were vibrating but that was a simple fix.
